报告题目：ExperimentalInvestigations into the Fate of Subducted Carbonates and Origins of Super-DeepDiamonds

报告摘要：Superdeepdiamonds are important for deep Earth research because they open windows intothe sublithospheric regions of the mantle. Mantle-slab interaction has beenproposed as a mechanism to produce diamonds at depths greater than 250 km.While the reaction has been verified by experimental studies at pressures below7 GPa, it is not known if it can occur at relatively low temperature and highpressure conditions corresponding to the source depths of the majority ofsuperdeep diamonds. In this talk I will show new data on the reaction kineticsof metal-carbonate reaction from diamond-anvil-cell experiments and discuss theimplications for their origin and distribution.
